Not long ago I purchased a skin care bundle from Hippie Butter which comes with hemp seed massage and bath oil, 2 hemp seed bar soaps and a bottle of hemp seed lotion. I promise, I will be reviewing all three products, but today I’m starting with the Hippie Butter hemp seed lotion review because it’s something I’ve been dying to talk about since day one of using it.
I am someone who suffers from adult eczema so I absolutely must use a lotion throughout the day to stay comfortable. Typically I lotion up my hands (which is where I have it the worst) at least 6-7 times per day and always after washing my hands because having them in water actually makes them feel even worse. The lotions I have tried work relatively well, but always had two major drawbacks…oily feeling on my hands after use and I didn’t feel the “moisture” working after just an hour.
When I first received the Hippie Butter hemp seed lotion, I was expecting a standard lotion like all the others I had bought previously but instead I was completely blown away. The first time I applied it, I was amazed at how great it felt. Don’t get me wrong, I know a lot about the properties of hemp seed so I know it has natural moisturizers and I knew that this lotion would have some good moisture qualities to it because of the hemp seed. What I wasn’t expecting is how nice it felt, how long my skin felt moisturized and how clean my hands felt after applying it.
There is absolutely no greasy feeling with this lotion at all, and as someone who applies lotion pretty liberally, this was pretty amazing to me. Even more impressive was that my skin felt soft for hours. It was around 1:00 in the afternoon when I first applied it and I didn’t feel the need for lotion again until after dinner. This NEVER happens with me. For someone who doesn’t have a severe eczema condition, I can’t imagine needing it more than twice per day, except in cases of washing your hands and wanting to apply it for that purpose.
Update: I don’t know how I left this off…completely forgot to mention the smell! The Hippe Butter hemp seed lotion has a nice clean smell about it. This isn’t your fruity watermelon, strawberry and banana crazy smally lotion. Those are nice and all, don’t get me wrong, but I prefer fragrance free so it doesn’t clash with any other scents I may wearing. This lotion is just clean and pleasant. Nothing is overpowering about this lotion.
Price Vs Value
I purchased my hemp seed lotion as part of the bundle packaged so I got a slight discount, but at it’s regular singular price the lotion is currently available from their shop for $11.49. If you’re used to shopping for your lotions at a chain store, this is going to feel high to you, but if you’re a shopper at boutiques or are used to the higher price of hemp products, this is nothing out of the norm and pretty affordable for what it is. You also don’t need a lot to make this lotion go a long way…unless you are an eczema suffer who tends to dip yourself into lotion on a regular basis. The average user however, will see this bottle last a long time, which makes the price perfect.
Ordering Process
Ordering from Hippie Butter was quick and easy and just a few clicks from start to finish. While you can check out as a guest without registering (I didn’t go this route), I never suggest this because nobody wants to put information in again when you order later…and trust me you will once you try this stuff. It was a short form to register and when I went back in to place a second order the next day, the website remembered my login information and checking out was as simple as choosing my shipping address from the list…which was only one at the time since I had only ordered once.
Shipping Time
As someone who orders a lot of products online, I was so impressed with Hippie Butter’s shipping time, but more importantly their communication with me about my order. I know some people may not care for the emails letting know you know the status of your order as it progresses but I personally love it. I received a confirmation email with a receipt as soon as I placed my order online. Within a few hours I received another email that my order status changed and had been shipped. They were even nice enough to send me my tracking number so I could watch my order from that point forward. I placed my order on Monday and it landed in my mailbox that same week on Friday.
Final Conclusion
Honestly, I typically am able to find at least one flaw with a product, even if it’s just minor, but seriously, I just can’t with this one. It’s perfectly priced, not greasy, moisturizes incredibly well and it’s my perfect dream lotion…plus it’s hemp seed, so to me, it’s a no brainer. Grab a bottle of this hemp seed lotion for yourself and let me know what you think. You won’t be disappointed.

This lotion sounds awesome. I love the hemp lotion I keep on my counter in the bathroom.
Hemp lotion rocks! Thanks for commenting Christy!
Wow! This sounds amazing…and I’m so glad it worked for you! I use lotion infrequently but I love the sound of this one…I may pick some up. Just one question — how does it smell? A pleasant scent is one of the first things I look for…
oh my gosh…how did I notice include the small in my review? I’m going to go back in and edit, but it’s pretty much non-scented. No frilly fruity smells. It just smells clean.
Thanks Misty for sharing! Great info about hippie butter made from Hemp seed 🙂
You’re welcome Joan! Thanks for stopping by for the read!
What a great brand name “Hippy Butter”! I can’t find a stockist in the UK though.
I believe they only sell online on their website Ana. I don’t think they have outside stores.
That is awesome you could not find a con with this, I need to try this out. Sounds amazing.
It definitely is. Ill be reviewing their hemp body lotion in a few weeks which is equally amazing, so if you do give it a try, grab their bath bundle that includes the lotion, massage oil and soap. It saves a bit of money and lets you try a few different things.
Thank You Misty. From the perspective of a product review you just about covered the standard questions anyone would ask. I would suspect from the product name that they are appealing to a niche market so your ‘increasing awareness’ mission will be critical. More power to you. prp
Thank you Peter, appreciate you stopping by and commenting. 🙂
Yet another product made from hemp. It’s sounds really great! I’ll have to look into it and looking forward to your 2 other reviews.
Sounds good Salma. The bundle with all 3 products is the way to go, so Ill be sure and get my reviews up of them as quickly as I can for you guys.
Right now I mostly use organic coconut oil for lotion but I’ve been looking into hemp. Specifically I need one that I can use on my face because the area right above my eyelids but below my eyebrow gets really try and flakey no matter how much water I drink. Any suggestions?
Amanda…you know, I have a spot on my face, right between the eyes that does the exact same thing to me. I use various moisturizers on it but still, by the end of the day, it feels dry and flaky to me. I usually use moisturizers designed for the face, but you know, now that you brought it up, I think I’m going to try this on that spot and see what happens. I will report back to you with the results. In the mean time, water is fantastic to help the skin, but a moisturizer is super important especially on the face, because it is the most upfront and center thing on our bodies and gets dried out the most. We definitely need a good moisturizer. I think that’s next on my list to find out!
